I am interested in the recontextualization of everyday objects and everyday sounds, especially electronic products and their functional sounds. We handle most everyday tasks using electronic products such as smartphones. Consequently, these fruits of technology fundamentally influence how we are, how we see the world, and how we live. I attempt to interpret the electronic products, which interact with us constantly, in new ways to elicit meaningful questions relating to contemporary life.
We hear functional sounds while electronic products are running. Functional sounds are acoustic signals which inform us about the states of electronic products. However, they are noises that we do not recognize or have learned to ignore. I suggest hearing the sounds not in their functional states but in new conditions. Through the recontextualized sounds, I offer the audience new audiovisual experiences and try to make the audience reflect on the environment in which we live. As a result, I intervene in the everyday objects and sounds which have functionality to find aesthetic potentiality in diverse ways and try to communicate with the audience through the recognized aesthetic possibility.
