Strange Season is both an installation and an exhibition which presents an unfamiliar environment by simultaneously running electronic products corresponding to the various weather conditions. I think that changes in the weather originate from some causal relationships such as the inherent laws of nature or human apathy. Therefore, the variable or extreme weather doesn’t seem strange to me, but rather reasonable. What is bizarre is the internal environment that maintains a constant temperature and humidity, and clean air quality, independent of external events. Based on this idea, I realize a paradoxical mechanism in the exhibition space. In the exhibition space filled with real and artificial plants, the electronic products clash with and depend on each other, forming a strange atmosphere. Therefore, while several heaters increase the temperature, an air conditioner tries to maintain a proper temperature. While several humidifiers increase the humidity, a dehumidifier tries to maintain proper humidity. Moreover, several fans circulate the indoor air, and an air purifier tries to keep the air clean. In addition, an outdoor AC unit outside the exhibition space emits warm air, modeling the result of the exhibition space. As a result, I expect the audience to imagine and think about what happens in the wider world beyond the familiar environment while facing the strange season created only for humans.
