Self, 2005, Interactive Video Installation, LCD Monitor, Computer, Mouse, Speaker, Acrylic, MDF, 160 × 50 × 50 cmSelf is an interactive video installation that uses images of myself retouched in Photoshop. As background music plays, a viewer interacts by clicking parts of the screen. Each click triggers a brief corresponding visual response, accompanied by a built-in Windows system sound. Clicking the mouth, however, reveals the original, unretouched image, along with a female voice announcing, "An error has occurred." By imagining myself as an operating system, I sought to explore a being that exists between the virtual and the real.
